Just a couple of notes about the Kraft deal in conjunction with the mega event at Smith's this week. I'm sure you all are well aware of the Kraft catalina that is printing at Smiths, Vons, Albertsons, Walgreens etc. In a nutshell the deal is
buy (3-5) select Kraft products and get $2
buy (6-9) select Kraft products and get $5
buy (10+) select Kraft products and get $10

At Smith's there is a double dip on the Kraft Mayo (not Miracle Whip). If you didn't print the Kraft coupons when they were available or used them already, there were $1/2 blinkies for the cheese slices at my store.
Here's what I did

8 Kraft Cheese Slices $1.49 (after mega)
2 Kraft Mayo $2.49 (after mega)
used (2) $1/1 Kraft Cheese Slices (No longer available)
3 $1/2 Kraft Cheese Slices blinkies
2 $ .25/1 Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo 8/19 SS
OOP $11.90
got $10 Kraft Cat and $2 Kraft Mayo Cat

Also, if you are need of butter the Challenge butter is on sale for $1.99 after mega which is a good price, but I also found $ .30 peelies on those. So a good price for excellent quality butter if you need any. (Missed this $.55/1 Challenge printable yesterday, so this makes the deal even better!)

Some day I'll be back to my old self on this blog! In the meantime if you're doing the Chex mix deal this week at Walgreens, you can make it a little better than advertised. Here's the deal:

Buy 3 Chex Mix $1ea = $3
Use (3) $ .50/1 IP (Coupons.com)
OOP $1.50
get $1 RR

OR you can do this deal which is not advertised

Buy 5 Chex Mix $1 ea = $5
Use (5) $ .50/1 IP (coupons.com)
OOP $2.50
get $3 RR

You will need 3 computers to print 5 coupons for the second deal, but I have confirmed that it does work--YAY I love free...doesn't happen much any more.

Easy Honey Storage

I love to use honey in recipes, but it never fails that not long after I open the container of honey it crystalizes. Well, I have a great solution. When you open your honey put it into glass canning jars, that way when it crystalizes, you can just throw it in your microwave and it will be as good as new!

Yummy, Easy Salsa

I know it's been hit or miss with my posts, but I really want to get serious about being more consistent with posts, so slowly but surely I'm getting back into the groove and hopefully by the time school starts I'll be back in the swing of blogging.

It's long past time for one of my favorite recipe finds! Scott and I LOVE chips and Salsa however, Scott only likes 1 or 2 brands because he has a thing about raw tomatoes (weird because he loves salsa???) and I have a thing about mushy cooked tomatoes. It's definitely a tomato thing with both of us. Now of course nothing compares to salsa made with fresh tomatoes, but really I've been trying to grow tomatoes for the last 3 years with a yield of 2 measly tomatoes. I've read every book in our library even those by locals about how to grow great tomatoes in the desert and followed their advice to the T and still a big fat F for me. I've given up momentarily but not for good. ANYWAY, I found this recipe that uses canned tomatoes, fresh ingredients and most importantly a blender, and I'm telling you WE LOVE this salsa. It's the next best thing 2 fresh and WAY better than store bought. give it a try it's a cinch and even if you don't like spicy be sure to add the jalapeno just take out the ribs and seeds. I left it out once and it was blah! I put it in wide mouth pint jars (easy for dipping chips) and the recipe makes 2 pints. It will last about a week in the fridge however ours has never been in the fridge that long except when we were on vacation!

Easy Blender Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1- 14 oz can diced tomatoes(I use fire roasted tomatoes)
  • 1- 10 oz can orginal Rotel
  • 1/2 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 1/2-1 jalapeno, seeded or not (depends on how spicy you like it)
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • small to medium size handful of cilantro, washed
  • juice of 1 lime

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in the base of a food processor or good blender and pulse to combine for 30 seconds or so until all the ingredients are finely chopped and salsa is desired consistency. Taste for seasoning and adjust to taste. Serve with chips or over tacos.

The Original Recipe is from Mountain Mama Cooks

Walgreens Cottonelle Deal Coupon Clarification

You've probably all seen or heard about the Cottonelle deal at Walgeens already, but I just wanted to clarify something about the IP Cottonelle coupon. Here's the deal just in case you don't already know about it:

Cottonelle Toilet Paper $5 (regular price at Walgreens)
use $1/1 IP here
use $1/1 IVC from Walgreens July coupon book
OOP $3

I think this is a good deal and I was actually going to do the deal with the $.50/1 SS 7/6/12 coupon before I saw this IP today.

Here's what I wanted to explain about this particular type of printable coupon in case you're not familiar with this type of IP. This coupon prints like a PDF in other words if you stay on the print page and keep clicking print you can print many of these coupons, however all the coupons you print will have the same security code in the upper right hand corner and technically count as "copies" so the store will NOT be reimbursed for them. You can legitimately print 2 coupons from each computer, but after you print the first time you need to close the print page and go back to the original page and choose the coupon again. You will know if you did this correctly because the security code in the upper right hand corner will be different on each coupon. PLEASE be honest and only use coupons with different security codes it is dishonest to do otherwise and I know that we do not want to hurt the stores or the manufactureres who give us such great deals.

Don't miss the Walgreens Friends and Family event TODAY only! 15% off your purchase and 20% off "W" brand items. I've been buying the Tampax and the Glade this week, using the $2 coupon that you can find inside the Tampax box when you buy your first one and the $1.25/Glade coupon from here. I went to a few stores and they all had plenty of stock. I'm most excited about this deal because W brand diapers are on sale this week 2/$10 so with the 20% off it makes them $4 a package which is a great price. I actually prefer the W brand diapers to most brand name diapers.

Remember to give your Friends and Family coupon before you start the transaction.

Smith's and Target trips

If you printed the $5/5 Kellogg's coupons that were available earlier in the week, you may want to use them at Smith's. Smiths is having a 50% off cereal sale. I didn't get a chance to write down the prices of all the Kellogg's cereals which are part of the sale, but here are the prices I know:

Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, Froot Loops $1.92
Frosted Mini Wheats Little Bites Chocolate $1.86

Believe me I know these cereals are not healthy, but I let my kids eat them on the weekends! I know the regular Frosted Mini Wheats, Raisin Bran, and Touch of Fruit Mini Wheats are also included in the sale I just didn't have time to check the prices.

Look for boxes with $5 in coupons or Cars 2 codes which you can enter at the website listed on the box and get a $5 gift card for every 4 codes you enter.

I'm going back so I'll write down more prices when I don't have so much help!!

I also stopped at Target and picked up a couple of boxes of Finish Powerballs dishwasher detergent (I really need more of this after the sale a few weeks ago at CVS, we do LOTS of dishes!) they were on clearance for $1.98/box (20 pack) use the $ .75/1 any Finish Product from the 1/22 Smart Source. One store had the individual boxes and another had the 3 packs of  32/pack for $5.98, but you would only be able to use 1 coupon on the multi-pack the multi pack is a slightly better deal by a few cents, but when I saw those I didn't have my coupons and that store was not close to home. Anyway, pretty good deal if you need these.

Target Valentine Candy 50% off

Valentine Candy is 50% off at 2 of the Targets I checked today. 1 store was marked 50% off, the other was still marked 30%, but scanned at 50% off. I used the $1.50/2 Mars Season Coupons previously available with the Walmart logo. The coupon scanned fine, but the cashier gave me all kinds of trouble I won't get into it but she was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. 2nd store took the last coupon I had a didn't even bat an eyelash! I'll just stick to my regular stores!

French Toast For Dinner or Anytime!

I think it's time for a recipe. I don't know about you, but I LOVE French Toast. This has become a regular week night meal when we are short on time. I have no idea why, but the flour in this recipe makes it taste so good compared to other recipes I've tried. I like to use Texas Toast or thick cut homemade bread. It works best if the bread isn't super soft. Hope you like it as much as we do.

FRENCH TOAST

1/4 Cup Flour
1 Cup Milk
Pinch of Salt
3 Eggs
1/2 t Ground Cinnamon
1 t Vanilla
1T Sugar
12 Slices Bread

Measure flour into a large mixing bowl. Slowly whisk in the milk. Whisk in the salt, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract and sugar until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.

Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated. Cook bread on each side until golden brown. Serve hot.

Albertsons Arrowhead Water

**DEAL IS DEAD sorry I didn't give you much time on this one! 2 stores I went to today still had the signs up with no dates. I bought at both stores one just gave me my coupon back from the previous purchase, the other spent 20 minutes trying to figure out what to do and finally gave me the same coupon back!! So, if you want to do the deal and the signs are up, just be prepared for a bit of a wait! I'm sure the signs will come down with the new ad starting tomorrow.
LOVE this bottled water deal at Albertsons with summer right around the corner. Here's the deal buy 4 cases of 24 bottles of Arrowhead water 2/$8 = $16
use (2) $2/2 peelie coupons found right on the cases of water -$4
OOP $12
get $5 ONYO catalina coupon

Works out to be $.175/24 pack which I think is a great deal! This deal was clearly marked in my store, but I did read on another site that if the cashier keys in the water as opposed to scanning 4 times, the catalina will not print. I scanned all mine at self check, but I wasn't worried because the catalina deal was signed at the store! I forgot to check the end date, I'll check on my next trip.

CVS

Good Grief, it's about time I posted something!! Okay, so if you're late to the game on the CVS Coke deal (buy $30 get $10 CVS Cash Card), It's not too late. All of my stores we're fully restocked on Thursday, just remember you can only buy 4 12pks per transaction, no big deal. The other good news... the sale continues next week! Be sure to check expiration dates, the Diet products seems to expire much earlier than the regular flavors.
The other goodie I found at CVS that you can grab today, I'm not sure how long the deal lasts maybe longer than this week because it is not marked in my stores. Buy 3 Eclipse gum bonus packs (right by the regular packs in my stores, regular packs DO NOT work) 3/$3 get $2 EB. Make sure to scan the gum at the scanner to check that they are scanning 3/$3. Great price for gum, and we were desperately in need of non-fruit flavored gum!
