Coupon Books

While I didn't find what I was looking for at Vons last night, here's what I did find. These 2 coupon books are found exclusively at Safeway affiliate stores and are loaded with great coupons. The Make It Tonight recipe book has Safeway store coupons which means you can stack them with Manu. coupons. I found mine in the back of the store on end caps in little clear holders. One of the stores was totally wiped out, luckily I had grabbed a few a week ago before the masses discovered them; there were a few at the second store which I hit last night. The other coupon has the Safeway logo on the cover but is full of Manu. coupons which means you can use them any where. These were found in the soap or beauty aisles.

These are some of the coupon books that I found on the various beer displays. They have some really good coupons, the one on top has the Tostitos coupon I used at Wags this week.

New Printables

Here are a few good printables. Remember that you can only print 2/computer and they generally expire 30 days from the print date. Also, most coupons have a print limit. So, the dilemma with internet printables is do I print now and hope there is a sale before they expire or do I wait and hope they don't hit their print limit??? I usually print the coupons for things that I use all the time and go on sale frequently. For example Tree Top usually goes on sale frequently and we go through tons of apple juice.

$1/2 Treetop Products (IE) (FF)

$1/1 Frigo Cheese Sticks

$1/1 Hebrew National Hot Dogs

Also check coupons.com for some new printables including a $3/2 Glade coupon.

Walgreens trip 1/21/10

For some reason this week has me a little frustrated with the Walgreens deals. I had $17 in RR that expired today and I just didn't have the coupons that would have made for some easy rolling. So, here's what I've got so far.

2 Wet Ones $2.00ea.
2 Jergens $4.29ea
2 Neosporin Lip Health $4.00ea.
2 Barilla Pasts $1.00ea
used
2 $1.50/1 Wet Ones IP (no longer available)
Jergens $3/2 SS 1/4/10
2 $3/1 Neosporin Lip Health IP Here
$10 RR
OOP $2.23
Got $1RR Wet Ones, $3 Neo, $5 Jergens

Not the greatest run but I only lost $1 rolling my RR
I plan to use my remaining $7 to buy milk and more pasta things we need and I'm not going to find them any cheaper at the grocery store!

There are some good deals this week if you have the coupons. The buy $20 get $10RR Pepsico deal is good if you have some coupons. Lots of people reported finding tostitos coupons in their grocery stores--no luck for me on those. Also, the Vicks/Dayquil buy $20 get $10RR deal is great with the coupons that were in the P & G insert this past week. (I also didn't get those!) The buy 3 bayer get a $6RR is good all month so look for the Bayer crystals to be marked down they're marked down in my store but only to $4.19 some people are finding them for $2 paired with the $1.50 RP or $1 SS coupons this is could be a moneymaker.

Where do I find my ad/coupon match-ups?

I've wondered about whether I should post all of the coupon match-ups here on my blog and I've decided against it. I want to give you the best deals I can find and hopefully save you a ton of time and some money too. There are so many blogs and forums that do all of the coupon match-ups (which is a lot of work!) Because I'm not blogging to make money or try and get a bunch of traffic, I'll tell you my favorite spots for the coupon match-ups, put them in my sidebar and then you can find them easily. I will tell you what I plan on buying or some good scenarios I've found and keep you posted on unadvertised deals that come up during the week.

Most blogs post their Walgreens, CVS and Rite-Aid ad match-ups on Friday or Saturday. My favorites are

Mommy Snacks
Common Sense with Money

For Grocery Store Match-ups, most vary by region, but some bloggers post ALL of the grocery match-ups. One of my favorite resources for grocery store ad match-ups is Pinching Your Pennies. You just go to their website click on State forums and choose your state then pick the ad you want to see. The 4 and 5 star items are the ones you want to look for. They do a good job, however they are not in all states. I know they have consistent forums and following in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, and I just noticed that they are starting in Nor Cal and have been hit or miss in So. Cal. I'll keep checking but they are a good resource for me and those in the west/southwest.

Here are a few blogs that have good match-ups or links for most of the big chains. Just as a side note from my experience Safeway stores which include Vons, Safeway, Genuardis, Tom Thumb, Dominicks and maybe a few others have pretty much the same ad for all of their stores give or take an item or two. Albertsons/Acme are totally regionally in other words their ad vary greatly by region. Smiths/Kroger ads tend to be similar but have some variations. Here are a few of my favorite blogs that do grocery store match-ups. Also, some regions run their ads Su-Sa and some run W-Tu. I'll put in parentheses where they blog from, but some do include all of the ads in their match-ups.

Krazy Coupon Lady(Id)
Save at Home Mommy(So. Cal)
My Frugal Adventures (No. Cal)
A Thrifty Mom (Id)
Moms Need to Know (PA)

I let you know about all the deals I think are great, but be aware that I am in the Western Region for Alb. which is So. Cal and Nevada, (Arizona?), Vons(same as all Safeway), Smiths which I'm still learning which region.

Safeway brand chicken and Jennie O Turkey

This post is for my mom and anyone else who has a Vons or Safeway Affiliate. This Saturday they will have Jennie O ground turkey on sale for $1.99/20oz. pkg, but there is also a coupon in the SS insert from two weeks ago with a $.50 off Jennie O coupon.

They also have theirSafeway frozen Chicken breasts on sale this week for $1.47/lb. They come in a 4lb bag for $5.88. This price is good all week w/in ad coupon make sure you clip it out before you leave or grab an ad in store. There is a $10 minimum, but if you buy 2 bags your good, in fact technically you just need 1 bag and another item for a few cents because the regular price of the chicken is $9.99!

Food Storage--Pinto Beans

Just a little FYI. I was going to order pinto beans from the cannery this week and then decided to price check them before I ordered (we can only order from the cannery once a month.) I checked at Sams and they sell a 50lb bag of Pinto beans for $ .56 cents/lb and the cannery price is $ .82cents/lb. I'm not sure if prices vary at Sams and the cannery and of course, you have to consider that buying them at Sams means you have a great big bag of beans. I know that some canneries will let you "check out" the canner, buy the cans and take it home to can your own stuff. You could also store them in poly buckets. Anyway, I don't think anyone beats the cannery on milk and the potato flakes are awesome in homemade bread! I think I'll do a running price check between the cannery and Sam's and keep you posted. You can also check Sams prices on their website, just click the "click and pull" link.

Good tips on collecting and Clipping Coupons

Okay, so I'm a little embarrassed to say that I used to cut my coupon inserts one at a time! Here is a little video on how to clip your coupons super fast. I do clip them all together now and it takes me less than 30 minutes to clip and organize all of my coupons each week!

Thanks My Litter of Six!

It's all about the flour!

Oh my gosh, I finally broke out my wheat grinder and I am so excited!!! I have been trying all kinds of bread receipes to get the perfect wheat bread and I have been getting a little frustrated. So, my last conclusion was that it had to be the flour. SOOOO, I broke out my wheat grinder, ground some wheat and FINALLY.....the perfect wheat bread!! It's all in the flour. So, sis. if you haven't used your wheat grinder yet, it's a must for the BEST wheat bread!! I will NOT buy wheat flour again.

Walgreens 1/11 trip

Here's my Walgreens trip today. I wasn't sure if I was going to do the J & J rebate so I went to my closest store, had them price check two of the same item and found out that they were ringing buy one get one free. So here' what my transaction looked like (All the coupoons I used were from the 1/10 SS insert or coupons.com.)

4 lubriderm 6oz $3.99 x 4 = 15.96
2 Clean & Clear $5.29 x 2 = 10.58
2 Aveeno Daily Moisturizing $3.29 x 2 = 6.58
used (4) $2 lubriderm -8.00
(2) $2 Clean & Clear -4.00
(2) $2 Aveeno body or baby -4.00
Auto deducted (2 x 3.99) -7.98
-5.29
-3.29
Total .56 cents plus tax!
Also, could have used the Lubriderm $1 Wag q from the Diabetes & You magazine, but I would have gone negative! So, if you're doing this at b1g1 50% use this coupon too and it will take off another $4.

Then I'll submit my receipt for the $10 JJ Rebate. Now, if this was ringing up b1g1 50% off, I'm not sure I would have done it unless I had RR that I needed to use.

Be on the lookout for Gillette Shampoo on clearance for $1.25-$1.50. They're clearanced at all of my Walgreens. If you have the $1 off coupons from the most recent P & G insert, you can get some super cheap shampoo. Also, the Pert plus may be on clearance for $1.30ish, if you buy two of these you will get a $2 RR.

Not much else, that I'm super excited about this week, let me know if you got some good deals!

Don't Forget your SC Johnson Rebate!

I bought all these candles at Walgreens this week and I almost forgot to send in my SC Johnson Rebates! If you haven't done it yet, you still have plenty of time, but if you have bought your 3 products, don't forget to send in your Rebate form. Remember you can send in 3 forms per household.

Walgreens & Johnson and Johnson Rebate

The Johnson & Johnson Rebate starts tomorrow and Walgreens has plenty of sale items to help you get this rebate! Here are a few scenarios from Hip2Save and NWA deals. Just remember that the deals are good at Walgreens because it's buy one get one 50% off so whatever you buy make sure to buy in 2's. Print your coupons before they're gone! Remember, you need to spend $30 to get the rebate and you have to purchase products from at least 2 different J & J brands. It isn't clear, but it looks like you may have to purchse $30 on one receipt. I would do that just to be safe.

2010 Week 1 Budget Review

Well, my first week keeping track of my spending and trying to stay within my $40-$50 weekly budget....I totally blew it! BUT I've thought about a couple of things, 1st I think it's more logical for me to work in terms of a monthly food budget. I like having a weekly goal, but the truth is that some weeks the stores have great stock up sales that will help my food woefully inadequate food storage and other weeks I really don't buy anything except milk and produce. 2nd I am working on my food storage, I just got a freezer and at the moment we can afford to spend a little extra cash building up our food storage. This week I bought lots of chicken and beef that was super cheap. I couldn't do that before I got a freezer so now I'm in okay shape with that. I also bought another bucket of oats at Costco because I don't know if they will restock and the price is great. I spend less than $15 at Walgreens this week and got 8 cases of water and tons of other stuff. It was a good week at Walgreens. Which is hit or miss. I also have $30 in RR to spend over the next 2 weeks!
So, overall it was a good week. I like being able to see exactly where my money went--I certainly feel more accountable when I'm shopping and it really helps to shop with cash!

So in my quest to save money, I found this really great tip from Moneywise Moms that I am super excited about trying. For $5 I bought 8 white wash clothes (they call them "barmops"). I'm going to use them to clean up kitchen spills (which are hourly occurences) and dirty faces (not with the same cloth!). And then you just throw them in the washer with some bleach and you're back in business! This should cut down on the very expensive paper towels that we go through by the caseload. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good Luck on your 2010 budget! Be sure to share you tips with me!

Rebate

There is currently a $10 Rebate for Naked juice when you buy 10 between 1/3 and 2/1. The rebate form is on Red Plum, but it is also on their website. Here is a coupon for $1/1 (IE) or (FF) coupon that will pair very nicely with this rebate. If you don't want to go to Red Plum to print the coupons, after you print the coupon you will be redirected to their homepage and you can print the rebate from this page. The small bottles are $2.99 at Vons, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper. I'll keep you posted on what I find; w/this rebate maybe we'll see some sales.

Walgreens 1/6 Cookies, Water and MORE!

Here are my Walgreens trips so far this week! I'm not going to list the individual transactions because they are so simple, but in a nutshell, I did the Electrasol with two cookies used $3RR from last week paid a little in change and got back $1RR Elctraso and $2 Nabisco. For the Aquafina, if you haven't already heard, this is part of the Pepsico deal that will be advertised the week of the 17th, but it is working now. Here's the deal, spend $20 in pepsico products (pepsi, aquafina, tostitos and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head) and get a $10RR. So, I bought four aquafina priced at $5.99 which took me over the $20.00 then I used the in ad Aquafina coupon for $3.99 ($2 off each pack). That took my total down to $15.96, I paid with a $10RR from last week and got back a $10RR. The manager, at my new favorite Walgreens, (not the one closest to my house!) confirmed this deal and actually encouraged me to buy any pepsi products I needed as long as I spend $20 I would get the $10RR!!!

I also heard that some of the candles have coupons inside the package, none of mine did, but be sure to check. I bought 3 and got a $4RR, if you buy 4 you get a $5RR, I have more coupons so I will do this one again for the $5RR.

Some stores have Christmas clearance marked down to 75% (not mine) this could make for some super cheap candy that you can always throw in the freezer. Speaking of freezing, I'm going to take the Chips Ahoy out of the boxes, leave them in the bags, put them in a freezer bag and freeze them.

Let me know if you found any other deals! Oh I also heard that Walgreens is going to be doing major clearance over the new several weeks/months, so keep your eyes open for good deals!

Walgreens Neosporin deal

I know it's a little late in the week, but if you still have RR that you have to spend this week like I did, there are a few okay deals. The Breyers and Doritos are pretty good prices. My favorite monthly deal is the Neosporin deal. Here are two scenarios

Buy Neosporin lip care 2/$8 (supersaver all month)
Use 2 of these $3 off coupons.
pay $2 out of pocket and get a $3 RR

or

Buy 2 Neosporin Ointment also 2/$8 supersave all month
use 2 of these $1 coupons
use $2 off Neosporin from Children's Activity book will deduct $4
pay $2 out of pocket and get $3 RR

This is a good deal that you could do a couple of times, just remember you can't do both in one transaction or you'll only get 1 RR. Combine this with a couple of boxes of cereal for another $2 RR or some chips, cashews or Ice cream!!
